Treat Live Patients
There's a huge difference between working on typodonts and treating live patients. This CPD event provides hands-on experience treating real adult patients, with real-time feedback.
Taught By Practicing Clinicians
All clinical components of our CPD training are taught by real-world, practicing dentists and OHTs.
Receive Ongoing Online Mentorship
Dental Health Network is the only Restorative CPD training provider to offer ongoing mentorship to OHTs via a private online group, where you can post cases with self-reflection and receive feedback to encourage ongoing improvement.
Interest-Free Payment Plans
We wanted to ensure this training event is accessible for all OHTs and DTs, so we've partnered with Humm to deliver 12-month and 24-month interest free payment plans.
Certificates
We hold ourselves and our students to a high standard. All participants will receive a Certificate of Attendance. We will give real-time feedback and encourage our participants to always seek relevant, intentional CPD training.
Mini-Residency Style Event
The live event has been designed to ensure all students can focus fully on learning, networking and enjoying the experience. We've planned everything, and your fees include accommodation and breakfasts, lunches and dinners associated with the official event schedule.
Want to get predictably outstanding restorative results for your patients.
Are lacking confidence performing high-quality adult restorations.
Or whose employers simply don’t know their level of competence and need to see them performing restorations outside of their own patient context.
Value learning and are willing to be fully present during the fast-paced 3-day event.
Online Training Will Be Run In The Lead-Up To The Event, including access to recordings of our exclusive 'Recognise & Refer' series as a BONUS and access to 'Restorative Excellence'
You'll learn the most up-to-date treatment protocols to achieve outstanding restorative results for your patients, via 'Restorative Excellence' as well as a deeper understanding treatment planning for adult patients through the 'Recognise and Refer' lecture series.
Real Clinical Experience
You'll practice what you've learnt online on typodonts, before treating live patients. You will be mentored by real-world practicing clinicians, and have time to ask questions.
This will give you the time and confidence to become familiar with the restorative materials and techniques on offer whilst in the clinic with live patients.
Treatment of Live Patients
You will treat live patients in a private practice setting, supervised by real-world practicing dentists. Who will give you advice, tips and tricks whilst you develop your skills.
A Dental Practitioners scope can evolve from the time they receive their qualification. Recently, the National Board has removed the reference and approval for programs to extend scope from the registration standard. This has been decided to be delivered by Continuing Professional Development (CPD). The board has currently no approval process for any CPD event run by any organisation, including DHN or even the Universities.
Unfortunately, this means there is no tick box solution for OHTs to increase their scope to adult restorative and hence there is no registration Division for an OHT with Adult scope. The age restriction for some OHTs and the extension of scope to potentially treat adult restorative may be considered an extension of scope but could also be considered building on fundamental scope.
If one decides to complete CPD that broadens knowledge, expertise and competence: one needs to:
-Self-assess whether sufficient clinical experience has been provided
-Assess the quality of training of incorporate the acquired knowledge and training into clinical practice
-Make sure the practice is within the relevant division of registration and definition of dentistry
-Be mindful whether your professional indemnity insurance covers any new procedures and techniques
-Make sure you always practice in accordance with the boards Code of Conduct
AHPRA has some useful information regarding the self-reflection tool on their website which is advised for practitioners looking at validating their scope of practice.
At DHN, we pride ourselves in providing real world dental education on current best practice, including practical training for participants on real life situations on live patients. We believe it provides outstanding education, training and competence for our participants that especially is relevant and able to be implemented immediately.
We've created this Mini-Residency event for OHTs and DTs to ensure you can maximise your learning and networking throughout the 3-day live event. We've taken care of everything, so you can just focus on waking up and getting ready for the day, knowing all your meals and accommodation are taken care of!
Your tuition fee includes four (4) nights of accommodation.
All meals that form part of the official program are included in your tuition fees.
If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, please be sure to let us know during the application process.
All Dental practitioners exercise autonomous decision making within their particular areas of training, education and competence to provide the best possible care for their patients. APHRA (The National Board) approves programs of study, (i.e. University Bachelor degree courses) as the minimum requirements for registration as the main divisions of Dental Practitioners (Dental Specialist, Dentist, OHT, Dental Hygienist and Dental Therapist). Within each division, registered practitioners must only perform those dental procedures that they have been trained, educated and deemed competent in by the approved programs of study.
